National Safeguarding Adults Week 2026

The theme for Safeguarding Adults Week 2026 is "Every Voice. Every Choice."

Safeguarding Adults Week 2026 takes place from 16 to 22 November 2026 and focuses on empowering individuals by prioritising choice and co-production in safeguarding. The campaign highlights how collaborative approaches align with the Care Act 2014 principles, emphasizing empowerment, prevention, and Making Safeguarding Personal. The aim is to ensure that safeguarding is person-centred, giving individuals a voice in decisions about their safety and well-being.

Safeguarding Adults Week 2026 – Daily Themes

Each day of the week will concentrate on a specific theme.

Monday – Listening & Person-Centred Conversations

“Safeguarding starts with listening.”

Effective safeguarding begins with understanding what matters most to the individual. By focusing on person-centred outcomes, we can ensure that conversations are shaped by people’s experiences, wishes, and priorities. This approach supports safety while also promoting dignity, independence, and improved quality of life.

Tuesday – Strengths, Choice & Control

“Good safeguarding increases choice and control.”

Supporting people to have choice and control means recognising their strengths and capabilities, not just their needs. This helps individuals to make informed decisions and manage risk in ways that work for them, balancing safety with independence while promoting confidence and resilience.

Wednesday – Co-production & Shared Decision-Making

“Making safeguarding personal means designing it together.”

Embedding co-production at every level helps us design services, systems and support that reduce risk and prevent harm before it occurs. Taking time to reflect on learning, challenge practice and listen to lived experience through shared leadership enables continuous improvement and ensures safeguarding approaches remain relevant, effective, and person-centred.

Thursday – Professional Curiosity

“Safeguarding is everyone’s business.”

Professional curiosity requires us to remain open, observant, and willing to look beyond the surface. This helps us identify risks early and respond effectively. It also encourages us to explore the adult’s views, wishes, and personal experience. By asking thoughtful questions and remaining open and inquisitive, it ensures the person’s voice is heard, creating outcomes in line with the person’s wishes and feelings.

Friday – Learning and Reflection

“Listen.  Learn.  Change Together”

Celebrate our approach to co-production and making safeguarding personal through listening, reflecting, and sharing good practice examples.

Weekend Programme

Saturday and Sunday – Community Action Day / Safeguarding in Your Community

“Creating Safer Communities Together”

Safeguarding extends beyond services and into everyday community life. By recognising and celebrating the role of local groups, activities, and informal networks, we can highlight how people look out for one another and contribute to safer, more connected communities.

Grassroots sport, community groups, coffee mornings, dance classes, and any other activity where people come together and look out for each other – this is your time to shine!

Sunday – Reflection & Wellbeing Day

“Care, Connection & Recovery”

Wellbeing and reflection are essential to sustaining good safeguarding practice. Providing space to pause, connect and reflect helps individuals and communities process experiences, build resilience and strengthen relationships that support ongoing safety and recovery.
